Ractopamine HCL is used as a feed additive to promote lean muscle growth, increase weight gain and improve feed efficiency in livestock, specifically in finishing pigs, cattle and turkeys. It works by stimulating beta adrenergic receptors which redirects nutrients towards lean mean and away from fat deposition.
